Floating on the Mighty Missouri River

Hunter is on an amazing adventure this week-end with our Homeschool Outdoor Adventures Crew (HOA)!  They are floating on the Missouri River for the week-end.  They left yesterday morning.  We put them in in New Haven, MO.  The trip is 12 teenagers and two adults.  The teenagers have to work together to figure things out as they go and help each other.  They get picked up in St. Charles on Sunday afternoon.  It rained a bit here last night.  I really hope they didn't get too much rain.  I am sure the tree line down the river is beautiful right now all the different colors.  I can't wait to pick him up tomorrow and here all the stories from the week-end!:)  Here are some fun facts about the Missouri River.  It is the longest river in North America, as well as the longest tributary in the United States.  It starts in the Rocky Mountains of Montana and flows east and south 2,341 to the Mississippi river just north of us here in St. Louis.  The Missouri has the nickname "Big Muddy" because of its enormous loads of sentiment and silt.  The Missouri river current is about 8 miles per hour.  The river is still used for traffic of goods and tug boats move barges up and down the river.
Watch out for barges guys! and have a blast!  stay dry!
